When China Called: Entry Part 3
Domestic flights are on the second floor. Because you would've already checked in before being released from the transfers terminal, there is no need to wait in line at your airline desk. Simply proceed to the security checkpoint inspection area. Yes, you will have to go through inspection one more time, but I promise, this is the last! Pay attention to the female only area, whether you intend to use it or not. The pink color is an easy tell. There are officers gesturing men away too.
At the checkpoint, an inspector will check your passport and boarding pass before allowing you to proceed through inspection. This progression, as I will later find out, is standard practice for domestic transportation in China be it air or rail. Once done with your checks, it is time to figure out which gate you should go to. That is, if your boarding pass does not list that information already.
The good news is that Beijing airport uses just enough English on displays and in audio announcements to help you out. However, most gate announcements are released only two hours ahead of flights. If you arrive any earlier than that, as I did, you will need to try to locate information display boards made of more than four screens. These are located straight ahead past the security checkpoint, where the terminals split to gates going right or left. If you pass the Bruce lee themed restaurant, you are heading in the right direction.
